Start With a Conversation

You don't need to know whether you need a new advisor before meeting us.

Maybe retirement is getting closer.

Maybe your financial life has become more complicated.

Maybe you've accumulated several investment and retirement accounts and wonder whether everything is working together.

Maybe you own a business, recently experienced a liquidity event, or are thinking more seriously about your family's future.

Or perhaps you already have a financial advisor.

Nothing is necessarily wrong.

You simply want another perspective.

That's enough reason to have a conversation.

An introductory meeting with Fountain Wealth Partners is an opportunity to get to know one another, talk about what's happening in your financial life, and determine whether our approach may be a good fit for you and your family.

There is no expectation that you arrive ready to move your investments or make a decision.

MEETING STRUCTURE

What to Expect on Our Call

We respect your time. We keep our introductory call focused and straightforward: 15 minutes to discuss your financial priorities and determine if our fee-only advisory model fits your balance sheet.

THE FIRST CONVERSATION

What Should We Talk About?

Start with whatever brought you here.

You don't need to prepare a presentation about your financial life.

Just tell us what's on your mind.

Perhaps you're wondering:

  • Can we comfortably retire?
  • Are we taking more investment risk than we need?
  • How much can we reasonably spend in retirement?
  • Could our investments be better coordinated?
  • Are there tax-planning opportunities we're overlooking?
  • What should we do with a concentrated investment?
  • How should we prepare financially for the sale of our business?
  • Can we afford to help our children or grandchildren?
  • Is our estate plan coordinated with our financial strategy?
  • Would my spouse know what to do financially if something happened to me?

Or maybe the question is simply:

“We've done pretty well. Are we doing everything we should be doing?”

That's a perfectly good place to begin.

GETTING TO KNOW ONE ANOTHER

What Happens in the First Meeting?

The first meeting is a conversation—not a presentation.

We want to understand you before recommending anything.

We'll talk about why you reached out, what you've built, what may be changing, and what you would like your wealth to accomplish.

We may discuss:

  • Your family
  • Career or business
  • Retirement
  • Investments
  • Income and spending
  • Important tax considerations
  • Estate and legacy priorities
  • Children or grandchildren
  • Significant financial decisions ahead
  • What is working well today
  • Where you would like greater guidance
  • Your experience with your current or previous advisor

We'll also tell you about Fountain Wealth Partners.

How we approach financial planning.

How we manage investments across open-architecture custodial platforms at Charles Schwab & Co. and Axos.

How our team works with clients.

How we coordinate with CPAs and attorneys.

How our fee-only advisory relationship works.

And the types of families we believe we can serve particularly well.

You are evaluating us just as much as we are learning about you.

MEETING PREPARATION

What Do I Need to Bring?

Come with your questions. We can gather the details later.

You do not need to bring boxes of investment statements.

You don't need your last three tax returns.

You don't need your estate documents.

And you certainly don't need to have your entire financial life perfectly organized before meeting with us.

If you have a recent investment statement or a simple summary of your financial picture and would like us to see it, that's helpful.

But it isn't necessary for us to have a meaningful first conversation.

We would rather spend that first meeting understanding you than sorting through paperwork.

If we mutually decide there may be a good fit, we'll explain what information would be helpful for the next step.

EXISTING ADVISORY RELATIONSHIPS

EXISTING ADVISORY RELATIONSHIPS

What If I Already Have an Advisor?

You don't need to be unhappy with your current advisor to have another conversation.

Many successful families already have financial advisors.

Some have relationships that go back many years.

And sometimes there are investments or parts of the existing relationship they genuinely like.

We respect that.

You may simply be wondering whether you could benefit from:

  • More comprehensive financial planning.
  • Greater retirement-income planning.
  • More proactive [CONTEXTUAL LINK: Tax-Efficient Investing (Links to: /investment-management/tax-efficient-investing)].
  • Better coordination with your CPA and attorney.
  • A different approach to investment management.
  • More communication with both spouses.
  • Greater team depth and continuity.
  • Or a broader conversation about what your wealth should make possible.

Having a conversation with Fountain Wealth Partners does not require deciding in advance that you are going to make a change.

Sometimes a second perspective simply gives you greater confidence in what you're already doing.

And sometimes it reveals opportunities worth exploring.

Either outcome can be valuable.

ONBOARDING & ACCOUNT TRANSITION

What If I Do Decide to Make a Change?

Changing advisors does not mean starting over.

One concern we frequently hear is:

“If I change advisors, are you going to sell everything I own?”

Not necessarily.

Before recommending investment changes, we want to understand what you already own and why you own it.

Some investments may continue to fit.

Some may have significant unrealized gains.

Some may need to be transitioned gradually.

And others may deserve to change.

We consider taxes, risk, costs, liquidity, account types, and your broader financial strategy before recommending a transition.

Change should have a reason—not simply occur because you changed advisors.

Our team can also help coordinate the account-opening and transfer process if you decide to move forward.

SUCCESSION & LEGACY

Who Typically Meets With Us?

Our clients have different stories, but many are navigating similar decisions.

We commonly meet with:

  • Successful professionals and executives
  • Individuals approaching retirement
  • Retired couples and families
  • Business owners and former business owners
  • Families following a business sale or other liquidity event
  • Widows and surviving spouses
  • Individuals who have inherited wealth
  • Families thinking about children, grandchildren, and legacy
  • People who have accumulated significant retirement savings
  • Families with trusts, concentrated investments, real estate, or other financial complexity
  • People who have outgrown an investment-only relationship
  • Families simply looking for another perspective

Many of our comprehensive Wealth Management relationships begin with approximately $1 million or more in investable assets.

Our Private Wealth relationships often involve $5 million or more and greater financial complexity.

But we don't believe an account balance tells the entire story.

The conversation begins with your circumstances, what you need, and whether we believe we can add meaningful value.

FAMILY ALIGNMENT

Should My Spouse Come?

Wealth management should work for both of you.

In many couples, one person naturally takes the lead on investments and financial decisions.

That's common.

But we believe both spouses should feel comfortable with the financial strategy and with the people helping manage it.

When possible, we encourage both spouses to participate in the introductory conversation.

Not because both need to have the same interest in investing.

They don't.

But both should have the opportunity to talk about what matters to them, ask questions, and understand the relationship.

Over time, our goal is that both of you know:

  • Where you stand.
  • What the strategy is designed to accomplish.
  • And who to call when something changes.
NEXT STEPS

What Happens After the Meeting?

The next step should make sense for both of us.

At the end of the introductory conversation, we may determine that it makes sense to continue.

If so, we'll explain what comes next.

That may involve gathering additional information, reviewing your existing investments, learning more about your retirement and planning needs, and beginning to develop a more complete picture of your financial life.

We may also determine that Fountain Wealth Partners isn't the right fit.

That's okay too.

A good advisory relationship should make sense for both sides.

There is no expectation that you make a decision during the first meeting.

Take the time you need.

Ask questions.

Talk it over together.

Our job is to help you understand what working with Fountain Wealth Partners would look like so you can make an informed decision.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • How are Fountain Wealth Partners’ fees structured?

We are a fee-only fiduciary firm. For ongoing wealth management, we charge an advisory fee based on assets under management, billed as disclosed in the advisory agreement. Financial planning engagements may be handled under a separately defined fee. Our current fee schedule is published in Item 5 of our Form ADV Part 2A.

  • What is the difference between fee-only and fee-based?

A fee-only firm is compensated solely by advisory fees paid by its clients. Fee-based advisors may charge an advisory fee and also receive commissions from selling insurance, annuities, or investment products, which can create conflicts of interest.

  • Why aren’t your rates listed on this page?

Advisory fees depend on the complexity and scope of each relationship, and our schedule can be updated over time. Rather than publish a grid here, we keep the current schedule in our Form ADV Part 2A (Item 5) and provide a written fee schedule as part of your advisory agreement.

  • Are there other costs beyond your advisory fee?

Yes. Client accounts are responsible for third-party costs such as custodian, brokerage, transaction, and mutual fund expenses. These are separate from our advisory fee.

  • Do you have an account minimum?

We do not apply a rigid asset threshold, and we are glad to talk with anyone to see whether we are a good fit. In practice, the families we serve have accumulated significant wealth over a career or a business and have reached the point where investments, retirement income, taxes, and estate decisions are interconnected enough to need coordination. Complexity and planning needs matter as much as asset level.
